Please pass this important information onto your members!
Anyone travelling to the Gin Pit 5 on Sunday from the Bolton area should be aware that the A579 is closed between 4 Lane Ends and Atherton.
We recommend that an alternative route is taken either via Westhoughton or Little Hulton.
Thank you.

Swinton 10 by Steve Doxey

Just to remind everyone it is the Swinton 10mile race this coming Sunday.
In the past we have recommended that runners should not wear Ipods or MP3 players during the race. Due to an accident at the beginning of the year, a runner from Swinton, who had been to the club a few times got knocked down and killed on the East Lancs Road, whilst wearing a MP3 player. This brought home to us the fact that when out on the roads, everyone should be aware of what is going on around them, and if necessary be able to respond to marshals instructions.
Therefore for safety reasons, we will not be permitting the use of Ipods or MP3 players during the race. Anyone who is caught wearing an Ipod or MP3 player will have their name removed from the results.
I have also emailed this to other club secretaries as well, but if you could put it on the website I would be grateful.
Best Regards
Steve
