It is the responsibility of the individual runners to inform the race organiser of their CLGP status.

(x)        Runners cannot compete for more than one club in the Grand Prix in the same season. Results will only count for the first claimed club.

(xi)       Runners will retain the Age Category in which they complete their own first race in the competition throughout its duration.

(xii)      Clubs must stipulate that all competing athletes wear club colours, save for exceptional circumstances.

Host clubs are required to e-mail the results of their races to Chris Greenall as soon as possible after the race.

Results will be circulated and published on the CLGP web-site as soon as possible after the race.

10.  Prizes

Team trophies for best A’ team, best ‘B’ team, best Veterans team and best Ladies Team will be awarded.

Individual trophies will be awarded for first 5 men and ladies*, 1st and 2nd male and lady vets in each category.

Male vet categories start at V40 and Lady vet categories at L35.

*It was agreed by the meeting that Ladies prizes should also be increased to include the first 5 runners.

11.  Prize Presentation

Prizes will be presented as soon as possible (by mid-November) after the last race in the calendar at a suitable venue.

It is proposed that each participating club should, in rotation, undertake to host the prize presentation. This may be a recognised race, a ‘Social Run’ or a social event. The host club will fund the event and recoup any out of pocket expenses through an admission fee.

It was agreed that the following clubs should host the event for the next 3 years:-

2012: Wesham

2013: Radcliffe

2014: Bolton United Harriers

The host club for 2015 will be elected at the 2012 AGM.

12.  Replacement of Shields

Two shields, the Veterans and the ‘B’Team trophies, are now fully inscribed with the winners names on all the spaces that are currently available.

After inspection of one of the trophies, it was decided that no replacement was necessary as there is adequate space to insert additional name plates.

13.  Web-Site up-date

A BlogSpot can be accessed via the following address:-

Links to individual member clubs also appear on this web-site.

Clubs are encouraged to furnish the Web-Site Co-ordinator at the e-mail address below with race reports and any other information which the runners from member clubs may find useful and which may help to promote the competition and the clubs therein.

14.  Number of clubs in the competition

This was discussed at length by all attendees. The consensus is that 10 clubs is probably the maximum we can accommodate with regard to the number of races we can hold in a calendar year. There is a still the provision for clubs to enter the competition and not host any races (see point 8).

However any future applications will still be considered carefully at subsequent AGMs, as some existing member clubs may eventually wish to exit the competition.

Whilst it is sometimes difficult to attain for various reasons, member clubs are encouraged to ensure a minimum of 10 runners per club support each race in the calendar.

15.  Suggested Date of the next meeting

Tuesday 4th December 2012 at Gin Pit commencing 7.30p.m.

16.  Any other Business

It was agreed that there is currently no great demand to hold a CLGP relay event, separate from the main CLGP competition.

However 2 member clubs are holding relay events:-

Wigan Phoenix at Haigh Hall on 10th March

Wesham from Blackpool Fire station on 27th July. Details of this event will be forwarded by Dave Waywell nearer to the date.

Meeting closed at 8.35p.m.

Swinton 10 by Steve Doxey

Just to remind everyone it is the Swinton 10mile race this coming Sunday.
In the past we have recommended that runners should not wear Ipods or MP3 players during the race. Due to an accident at the beginning of the year, a runner from Swinton, who had been to the club a few times got knocked down and killed on the East Lancs Road, whilst wearing a MP3 player. This brought home to us the fact that when out on the roads, everyone should be aware of what is going on around them, and if necessary be able to respond to marshals instructions.
Therefore for safety reasons, we will not be permitting the use of Ipods or MP3 players during the race. Anyone who is caught wearing an Ipod or MP3 player will have their name removed from the results.
I have also emailed this to other club secretaries as well, but if you could put it on the website I would be grateful.
Best Regards
Steve

It is with great sadness that I have to anounce the untimely death of Adrian Selby in his early 40's. Adrian ran for Horwich RMI and up until his recent illness was a regular competitor and winner of our events. He was well known to a lot of local runners and will be sadly missed. Our thoughts go out to his family, from everyone involved with the Central Lancs Grand Prix

Radcliffe 3 Day Challenge :"I Conquered the Challenge."

Radcliffe 3 Day Challenge :"I Conquered the Challenge."

14th July sees the start of the 2nd running of the challenge with the well established Bull Hill Fell Race of approx 5.5 miles, starting from the Wagon & Horses Pub in Hawkshaw, near Bury at 7.30pm (Allow 10 minutes warm up to get to the start)

15th July sees the "Summer Cross Country" race around the woods of Giant Seat Scout Camp, approx 5.0 miles, race HQ being at the camp site near to Ringley motors, Ringley Road, Radcliffe. Starting at 7.00pm. This is an undulating course of varying terrain

16th July sees the start of the "Woodcocks 5 mile Trail Race" around the trail, roads and canal paths of Radcliffe and Ringley. A mainly flat course similar to our 10k but without the diversions so none of the tough up and downs. The easiest of the 3 races by far and justifiably so after the 2 previous days (Allow 10 minutes warm up to get to the start)

Last year in its 1st year it was a great success, Ginny Willey (Middleton Harriers) and Rob Jackson (Horwich RMI) were 1st home over the 3 days.

On line entry to individual races or series at www.ukresults.net £10 affiliated & £16 unafiliated for series

Hope to see some familiar faces there.

Radcliffe 10k by Mark Emmet

On a day when heavy showers were expected the Radcliffe 10k was run in a variety of weather on a mild morning, the rain more or less holding off throughout the race. A field of 234 runners completed the second running of the new challenging course around the Nature trail, roads and paths of Ringley and along the canals of Radcliffe to finish on the "Nellie Halsted" track. The course was slightly longer than last year to get it as close to 10k as possible.
1st home was James Kevan of Horwich RMI in 34.30, followed by David Locket (V45) of Salford Harriers, Gareth Booth of Horwich RMI, Tom Carson (Junior Male) of Bolton United Harriers and in 5th place John Knowles of Burnden Road Runners.
1st lady home was Carly Needham of Rochdale Harriers in 38.23, followed by Joanna Goorney (L40) of Wesham Road Runners, Maria Lowe of Astley & Tylesley R.C., Kirsty Preece of Burnden Road Runners and 5th lady being Josie Maley of Astley & Tyldesley R.C.
There were plenty of CLGP runners in attendance with tremendous support at the end of the race as runners waited for their team mates to come in and had the opportunity to enjoy the refreshments provided by Asda, Radcliffe, who had seven unaffiliated runners competing for the "Tickled Pink" charity.
A good number of vets competed with probably the best performance of the day coming from John Riley of Northern Vets who finished the race in a credible 49.33 and 103rd place. At the other end of the age scale Tom Carson finishing in 4th place in 35.52 was a great piece of running for a Junior man.
Team prizes went to Astley & Tyldesley for the ladies and Horwich for the men.
On behalf of all at Radcliffe AC, I hope you had an enjoyable race which will be held again next year, you support of our race was greatly appreciated.

Trotters 5 - Written by Stewart Jones of Burden Road Runners

Well as you all know this was a new race which was "FLAT", well I have to confess I forgot to put Flat compaired to the historic races Burnden have put on.
But what I did do and I think you will all agree is I booked the weather, we couldn't have asked for better weather this time of year and I think the scenery
was perfect a little road and track taking you through an open farm were you could see Deer, Ostriches, Lama's and all sorts of animals, that's if you had the
time to look around and take in the view, but I know as a runner (some might say) you miss all the scenery when your fully committed to racing and focusing just on the race.
At 10am on Sunday the 6th March the race began and just under two hundred runners were off. This was a good mix of runners with 112 grand prix runners and the
rest made up of other clubs and non-club runners. At the front Marc Tillotson took the lead and quickly settled down and at the end of the first loop had commanded
a good lead, he was followed by a group with the likes of Nick Leigh from Altrincham, Thomas Carson from Bolton, Paul Mannion from Astley and Tyldesley, Stuart Sharp form Radcliffe
and Colin Rigby again from Astley and Tyldesley. they were followed shortly afterwards by the leading lady runners. Heading the lead was Maria Lowe of Astley + Tyldesley, followed by Kirsty
Preece from Burnden and Jose Maley again from Astley + Tyldesley
As the runners finished the race they were met by great support from people watching the race giving bags of encouragement.
All finishers were handed a technical T-Shirt. Also given out were goody bags and spot prizes which were all donated by Up and Running so I would
like to say a "Big Thank You" to them to help making a very good day.
I was stood at the finish with Andy Staveley and we both spoke to many runners after the race had finished, the feed back we got was very positive with people stating it was a
race they would return to next year, so again thanks for the positive feed back and thanks to all for their support. CHEERS

Central Lancashire 5K at Leverhulme Park by Nick Howarth

Sunday 20th February saw Bolton United Harriers & A.C. host the first race of the Central Lancashire Grand Prix series with a new 5K event. With 245 entries, the race featured good representation from all our local CLGP clubs.
The race started on the athletics track at Leverhulme Park , Bolton , in bright but cold conditions. Taking in parkland trails and roads, the route featured a steep downhill section in the first kilometre, paid for with a tough uphill slog in the second. Bolton United Harriers’ Tony Valentine set a strong early pace, closely watched by his junior teammate, Tom Carson. The second half’s flattish terrain led to a dramatic turnabout in the race, as Bolton ’s Marc Tillotson, returning after injury, took the lead with 400m to go. In the Grandstand setting of the athletics track, he powered to the finish line, winning in an impressive 15m 47s. Tony Valentine finished second in 16m 03s and Tom Carson third in 16m 19s. Bolton UH won the men’s team prize, Astley & Tyldesley were second and Horwich RMI third.
In the women’s race, Astley & Tyldesley’s Bolton-based Maria Lowe led unchallenged from the start. Her winning time of 18m 57s was followed by Jo Goorney’s 19m 25s and Horwich RMI’s Suzanne Budgett in third (20m 05s). Astley & Tyldesley won the women’s team prize, with a strong performance by Burnden Road Runners placing them second to Bolton ’s third.
The championship is already off to a flyer and the competing clubs will be looking ahead to series’ next race at Smithills Coaching House. The Trotters Five is being staged by Burnden Road Runners on Sunday 6th March.
Organiser Nick Howarth was pleased with morning’s events.

Trotters 5 by Stew Jones

The FLAT TROTTERS 5 miles
Hi everyone just thought I would remind you that our race is near approaching.
This is a two lap course which is flat. It starts at the Smithills coaching house and goes round the perimeter of a local park,
then through an animal farm leading out onto the road and back round to Smithills coaching house, which completes the first lap
followed by the same loop again finishing near to the coaching house.
As most of you know me I'm not a keen fan of hills and this course is what i would class as slightly undulating as close to flat as you
can imagine. Therefore a good course to get a descent time and to measure were your at this time of year.
Technical T-Sirts to all finishers, and spot prizes. There are also over £600 of prizes to individuals/teams/vet winners
I hope you all make it as this will start the year off with a bang and is the second race in the grand prix calander .
Cheers everyone, and good running for 2011
